ISLAMABAD: ZTBL President Syed Talat Mahmood has congratulated ZTBL Vice President M Hameed Shahid for being conferred the ‘Tamgha-i-Imtiaz’ under the “Pakistan Civil Awards” on the occasion of the Independence Day by President Mamnoon Hussain.
The investiture ceremony of these awards will take place on Pakistan Day, March 23, 2017.
Hameed Shahid is a fiction writer and critic, duly recognised in the world of Urdu literature. He has a number of published books, including novel, short stories and translations, and more than a thousand literary critical papers published in leading literary magazines.
He is also a member of the advisory panel of the editorial board of literary magazine Adbiat, published by the Pakistan Academy of Letters.
He is a member of the advisory board of Halqa Arbab-e-Zauq, Islamabad. Several Universities allocate topics for research about his life and literary works to students at the MPhil level. His works have also been acknowledged by critics, and two books have been published to evaluate his work exclusively. One of his books was also nominated for the UBL literary prize in 2016.
