KARACHI: Supermodel Ayyan Ali on Tuesday filed a plea in the Sindh High Court (SHC) seeking contempt proceedings against the Ministry of Interior for not removing her name from the Exit Control List (ECL) despite court orders. The petitioner submitted that her name was not removed from the ECL despite court’s earlier directions. This act of the Interior Ministry is tantamount to the contempt of the court; therefore, contempt proceedings should be initiated against it, she said. Earlier in March, the SHC had directed the authorities concerned to strike her name off the ECL. However, the SHC suspended the operation of its own order on the request of the attorney general because the government wanted to challenge the decision in the SC.
