KARACHI: Provincial Minister for Education and Literacy, Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar, on Wednesday said that the government will consider reducing taxes if private schools decreased tuition fees and other charges.
Renowned schools were supposed to announce reasonable fee structures for middle-class people so that their children may get better educational facilities, he said while talking to a delegation of Private Schools Management (PSM) at his office. PSM Registrar Rafia Mallah and Deputy Director Akhlaque Ahmed also attended the meeting.
Dahar requested PSM to provide suggestions regarding fee structures and redefine rules and regulations regarding working of private schools. He further asked them to coordinate with the public sector schools to enhance their educational facilities. He said that the government believes in dialogue and will address the issues of private schools but “will not allow anyone to create problems for parents and the students as well.”
The minister said that his department had introduced a mechanism to monitor private educational institutions – which was making the system more effective. He also took notice of 23 colleges of Karachi that produced zero results in pre-medical examinations and directed the concerned authorities to submit a report on the matter and take action against the ‘failed’ college’s principals.
