WARSAW: Afghan President Ashraf Ghani on Saturday said that the Pak-Afghan peace initiatives were not successful as Pakistan still differentiates between ‘good’ and ‘bad’ terrorists.
He said that Afghanistan’s regional initiatives with neighbouring countries were yielding significant cooperative, except from Pakistan, as they were still practicing the distinction between good and bad (Taliban). “The key problem among our neighbouring states is an absence of agreed rules of the game,” he said.
“We seek regional and global support in creating those rules, which will bind us to collective security and harmony,” he said. He also maintained that the world leaders should understand that Afghanistan was facing a multi-dimensional conflict and was fighting all sorts of groups ranging from Al-Qaeda and the Islamic State to terrorist groups with Central Asian, Chinese and Russian origins.
President Ghani believes that Afghanistan’s dialogue with the Arab community was also fruitful. He said that the recent terrorist attack near the mosque of Prophet Mohammad (peace be upon him) in Madina city of Saudi Arabia has outraged Muslims and could result in a consensus against the rebels attempting to hijack the Islamic world.

In Islamabad, Adviser on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz said that Pakistan has advised Afghanistan to take advantage of the gains made against militants through the on-going Zarb-e-Azb military operation, apparently reiterating that action be taken against fleeing terrorists taking refuge across the border.
“We expect that as we intensify our efforts to facilitate the peace process in Afghanistan, they [Kabul] will also capitalise on the dividends of these counter-terrorism operations to facilitate this process,” he said. The military operation in North Waziristan and concerted operations against terrorists in Pakistan have been very successful and as a result, dividends have started reaching the people of Pakistan.
Inter-Service Public Relations director general Asim Saleem Bajwa had said that these military operations, as promised, have been conducted without any biasness. “Shawal area has also been cleared of terrorists,” he said. “Pakistan is not harbouring terrorists on its soil,” he said, adding that the Pakistan Army had caught agents of India and Afghanistan from tribal regions.
